In 1749, while the ship left the port of Saint-Malo for Cadiz, it was wrecked on the rocks of the Natière.
Its wreck rediscovered fortuitously in the spring of 1994, became the subject of underwater archaeological excavations and delivered hundreds of objects, of which a portion will be presented to the wheat Halle. These objects provide unpublished insights about life on board a ship from this era: Dinnerware, everyday objects, tools related to the various trades present on the ship, weapons.
The exhibition will be to evoke the history of the granvillais privateers who distinguished themselves since the time of Louis XIV to the Empire. Many documents from archive, arrays and several objects belonging to the collections of the Museum as well as loans, focus on the personality of Leonor Park Couraye, the owner of the GNR Aimable.
