Around 1846, JF Millet, who spent most of his youth working in the fields, moved from portraits, classical and religious subjects to the naturalistic style, with rural and peasant scenes for which he became most famous. In 1849, Millet moved to Barbizon, where he became associated with the Barbizon school, along with Theodore Rousseau, Narcisse Diaz...He lived in Barbizon until his death, in 1875.
